Dear, Alice I have been slow to answer your letter but will try and say a few words - I am almost ???? writing to anyone - I took a cold on Tuesday after you was here - and have been ????? down ever since I cough all the time I had the doctor to examine my Lungs he said they were not affected yet - but I sure do cough awful hard - I am to old to stand such a cold it seems to me - but I may get over it can not tell yet no, Alice I did not give you that money to buy all the ????? goods

2) I told you I would accept that as a Christmas present do just what you like with the dollar I gave you - I just thought your mother would like to give you something if she could I felt like I could not see you go without giving you something - I felt like I could just see yours and Mary little black heads when I used to watch over you and rock you to sleep - but those happy days are gone to never return - I hope you and Mary will both be happy - I think you have got good kind husbands

I don’t expect to be here much longer but the world is a blank to me now no pleasure in it for me we are having some winter the last few days some snow on the ground and has melted ????? to make it ??? - I will not try to write as much as I am so nervous you ask if I hear from Mary yes I hear sometimes - am always glad to hear from you both - hope to be able to do better next time with hope you and Lawrence keep well and do well will close with love to you both - write when you can

Grandma
