Notes:
- The link above talks about how Joseph was a member of the Knights Templar and the Masons. I have a feeling that he was the one to whom the Induction/Initiation ceremony for the Order of the Eastern Star belonged.

Dear Alice & Lawrence,
Alice I recieved your good letter written along the first week in January. And this evening in looking over my un-answered letters found yours of which I am going to answer the first one for I know it surely is the one to answer first as the date is 8th but how time does go - to fast for me.
I have been having plenty to do, always something to look after and Doctor has’t been feeling very well, has been have a good many heart attacks.
Martha was telling us the other evening what a wonderful little house keeper you are and said she injoyed you so much. Doctor and I went down to the house to see the new office we think its fine, and I know your dad will injoy it when he gets everything as he wants it.
A year ago to-day I went to Atchison and bro’t Gilbert home and then he was here and down there until the 17th of Mar when he went back the last time.
Seems so many many things have happened in the last year and too it seems like a dream.
Mrs. Powell came home from Dallas yesterday she had been gone since the day after Thanksgiving She was so pleased to get back to her little place.
She injoyed visiting Mary & Clifford, said Mary was a dandy cook.
Alice if I ever do get to Pawnee City I am going to visit you, but I am afraid it won’t be soon.
When you come down, come up if you have a minute, I relized your time is short when you do come down.
Lots and lots of love,
From Mickey

Just a line to thank you for our Xmas presents. They were all just fine and we appreciate being remembered. Ihope you are using your percolator and enjoy it as much as we do ours. We had a very nice Xmas. Mother and Pauline were here. But Allan & wife didn’t come. The roads were bad and a long trip for such a short stay. Bobby was happy and enthused over it all. He saw Santa uptown and got a treat I also took him to the church. his class sung a song. His teacher at school gave them a treat, I visited school that afternoon.
Dapper Dan died the Sunday after Xmas. We sure did miss him & felt bad but have another one now just a stray that came here but is a nice cat - but is a young cat so Bobby gets lots of pleasure playing with him. Just as soon as mother and roads are better, we are coming over - will we have any trouble in find you?
Why can’t you folks come over and spend Sunday with us some time - just let us know so you will find us at home. Had a letter from Mary - was sure surprised to hear your father had been to Texas.
Our roads here are almost impassible so not much business. Have you put in your time when Larry is away.
We’ll be glad to see you folks any time you can come. We are all as well as usual.
With love,
C.M.N.
