FAQ
What is sentletters.com?
Sent Letters is a website that allows people to share letters that they have received or that they never sent with other people.
Why was this website made?
Sent Letters was created as a way for people to get together and share ideas, share their humanity, their pain, their happiness, and the rest of the specturm of emotions that people experience from words on paper.
Who can submit letters?
Any one can submit letters to the site. That is the point: without user submission, there wouldnt be any letters on the site.
Why do I have to register to submit a letter?
The reason you have to register is so that we can tell people who it was that submitted the letter, and so that we can give you statistics based on other users actions regarding your letters.
What is the deal with the rank?
The rank is just a way for each person who is a member to tell everyone else, what letters touched them the most. When you see a letter that really speaks to you, then you can rate it highly. If it is a letter that you think is not worth looking at, then vote it poorly.
Why do I have to login to vote and Make comments?
The idea is that people would vote for the letters, and that we would prevent a robot from posting ridiculously all over the site.
What if I don’t want the names displayed on my letter to be displayed on the site
If you do not want the names to be displayed, then you can tell us to cover up the original names on the letter, and we will cover the names before it ever goes onto the site. If you send the letter to us through the mail, please include a note that asks us to cover the names. If you submit through the online form, you will have the opportunity to choose the “cover the names” option, and we will take care of that for you.
What if I don’t want phone numbers and addresses displayed?
We will automatically black-out the phone numbers and street/email addresses displayed on letters. We will not cover up the city and state name, this gives the letter more life because it places a geographic location on the letter.
What happens once I submit my letter?
When you submit the letter to SentLetters, your letter in the form you submit becomes the property of SentLetters.com, and can be reproduced or redistributed in any manner, fashion, or media that the owners of SentLetters so chooses. This includes distributing through websites, book, magazines, television, radio, or any other distribution method not mentioned here.
